Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been used for over 3000 years to assist the “qi” to flow effectively and restore various parts of the body to normal function.

Think of the qi, the energy in the body as water in a winding river. Along its path, the water seeps into the soil to nourish plants and animals. In a drought, it may dry up or become stagnant. In a flood it rages uncontrollably.

Acupuncture uses very thin needles to balance the energy flow in the body, to restore the proper flow of qi.

All needles are sterile and are used only once.

Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular acupuncture uses small needles or “ear seeds” to address specific areas of the body. The seeds can be left on the ear for several days allowing the treatment to continue between visits. Specific points on the ear can be used to treat the underlying causes of numerous conditions.

Herbal Medicine

Traditional Chinese herbal medicine uses specific combinations of herbs to help the body heal its self rather than masking the symptoms. Only after the underlying cause of a condition is determined can the correct combination be prepared.

Tuina Massage

Tuina massage manipulates the same points and channels as acupuncture to restore balance to the flow of qi. Traditionally Tuina massage is done fully clothed but certain manipulations now use the aid of oil, water or talcum powder.

Tuina massage can be taught to a patient so that it can be self administered or a parent can use it with a child.

Tuina massage can be used with children as a non-invasive way to soothe them when they cannot express the way they feel.

Cupping Therapy

Cupping Therapy involves the use of suctioning cups along the acupuncture meridians to help move qi and assist in healing. Cupping can improve circulation, help relieve pain, assist with difficulty breathing and provide relief for menstrual problems.

Food Therapy

When a specific condition has been identified, a variety of foods can be used to correct the underlying problem and restore the body to a state of balance. Once the condition has been corrected, the diet must be adjusted to maintain that new balance.

Exercise

Exercise can be a valuable addition to any treatment plan. Exercise is essential to achieving a healthy body, mind and spirit.

The underlying condition should be determined in order for the proper exercise to be used. Meditation can calm the body and alleviate stress while Qigong uses small movements, meditation and breathing techniques to stimulate the circulation of qi. Yoga, Taichi, cardiovascular and weight training can also be options for specific conditions.

Please consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient technique of scraping the skin. It is used in the treatment of fever, fatigue, poor circulation, respiratory problems, muscle and tendon injuries as well as gynecological and urinary tract disorders.
